At the 1996 UCI Road World Championships, in the picturesque setting of Lugano, Switzerland, Johan Museeuw etched his name into the annals of history. 31 years old on the day of the race, wearing the iconic blue Belgian National Champion’s jersey, Johan nearly didn’t take part on the day, having judged the parcours too difficult.

In true Flandrien style, Museeuw showed unyielding determination and true grit to emerge victorious in one of the most prestigious events in cycling. As he crossed the finish line, amidst a chorus of cheers and applause, Johan Museeuw secured his place among the cycling greats, forever known as a World Champion.
